Introduction to the "My BST" reading pane toolbar
Some of the most powerful tools in Bible Study Tools are found in the toolbar of the “My BST” reading pane. Here is a handy guide to what each of the buttons can do.
In order, from left to right, you’ll see the following buttons on the “My BST” reading pane toolbar:
- Back arrow – Back – Click the Back button to go back to a previously-viewed piece of content, just as you would in your Internet browser.
- Forward arrow – Forward – Click the Forward button to go forward to a previously-viewed piece of content, just as you would in your Internet browser.
- Print button – Print Current Selection – Click the Print button to print the text currently being viewed in the reading pane.
- tT button – Change Text Size – Click this button to change the font size of the text in the reading pane.
- B button – Bold – Select a Bible verse in your reading pane, then click the Bold button to make the text bold. You can also take the bold formatting off by selecting bolded text and clicking the Bold button again.
- I button – Italics – Select a Bible verse in your reading pane, then click the Italics button to italicize the text. You can also take the italics off by selecting italicized text and clicking the Italics button again.
- Font color button – Font Color – Select a Bible verse in your reading pane, then click the Font Color button to change the color of the text. Clicking the arrow on the right side of the button will drop down the array of font color options.
- Hightlight button – Highlight Color – Select a Bible verse in your reading pane, then click the Highlight Color button to highlight the selected text. Clicking the arrow on the right side of the button will drop down the array of highlight color options.
- Clear Formatting button – Clear Selected Formatting – Select any formatted Bible text, then click the Clear Selected Formatting button to remove any existing formatting, including Bold, Italics, Font Color, and Highlight.
- Add Note button – Add Note – Click the Add Note button to open a new note window where you can record your personal thoughts.
- Audio button – Listen to Bible Audio – Click the Audio button to listen to the Bible chapter currently displayed in the reading pane.
- Display Options – Change Display Options – Click open the Display Options drop-down to manage the following:
- Cross-References – Turn on or off the appearance of the Cross-References icons in your Bible text. Remember – some Bible translations may not provide Cross-References. When the icons appear, simply click on an icon to see the Cross-Reference text. You can also view all the Cross-References for the Bible chapter you are viewing by clicking on the Cross-References tab at the bottom of the reading pane.
- Footnotes – Turn on or off the appearance of Footnotes icons in your Bible text. Remember – some Bible translations may not provide Footnotes. When the icons appear, simply click on an icon to see the text of the Footnote. You can also view all of the Footnotes for the Bible chapter you are viewing by clicking on the Footnotes tab at the bottom of the reading pane.
- Notes – Turn on or off the appearance of Notes icons in your Bible text. Remember – if you haven’t created any notes, or if the notes you created have not been associated with a specific Bible verse reference, icons may not appear. When Notes icons do appear, simply click on the icon to open the note window and view the note you created.
- Red Letter – Turn on or off the words of Jesus in Red Letter.
- Strong’s Numbers – Turn on or off the appearance of Strong’s Number icons in your Bible text. Remember – Strong’s Numbers are only available in the King James Version and the New American Standard Bible, so this option will not be displayed in other translations. When the Strong’s Number icons appear, simply click on the icon after a word to view the Strong’s Concordance entry for that word.
- Add Parallel – Add Parallel Reading Pane – Click the Add Parallel button to open a parallel reading pane where you can view any two pieces of content from the library side by side.
